1. Facts and commentary

Reported facts are separated from Hillbilly Bo commentary. Commentary may be blunt, but factual claims should still be linked to records, named sources or clearly described evidence.

2. Sources and verification

Official records, direct documents, on-the-record statements and first-hand evidence are preferred. Anonymous or unverified claims are treated as leads, not proof. Important claims should be independently checked when possible.

3. Scanner and public safety

Scanner traffic is preliminary. Routine EMS calls are excluded from public reports unless connected to a shooting or significant accident. Exact house numbers and protected minor details are removed. Developing details may change.

4. Arrests and accusations

Arrest information is attributed to the reporting agency. An arrest is an accusation, not a conviction. The presumption of innocence is stated plainly.

5. Minors, victims and private people

The safety and privacy of minors, victims and private individuals are weighed against the public interest. Graphic, medical and personally identifying details are limited or withheld when publication would create needless harm.

6. Conflicts and local support

Support, advertising or a local business relationship does not buy favorable coverage or block fair questions. Sponsored or paid material must be labeled.

7. Corrections

Material factual errors are corrected promptly and transparently. The corrected content should state what changed when the change affects the meaning of the report.
